Saving $769.69 at Kohl's

Here's part 2 of March's savings extravaganza! Part 1's $114 saved at JCPenney kicked things off last week, and today is all about Kohl's. Whenever possible, I've linked to the item on the Kohl's website. Prices are higher than listed below, as clearance is often cheaper in-store than online. Additionally, I was shopping with a 30% off discount as well as two $10 off coupons, so be sure and use your discount code for extra savings!

Elle ankle boots
Originally: $89.99
Paid: $3.04

I was out at lunch when an email for $10 off of anything arrived in my inbox. With a Kohl's right down the street from where I was, you can probably guess where I ended up next. This is my cheapest shoe find at Kohl's yet, thanks to layers of coupons: $10 off + 30% off + an extra 25% off discount that was being applied on all clearance at that particular store. Three impressed employees gathered at my register when the price came up and the cashier announced "She got these for three dollars and four pennies!"

Rock & Republic plaid smoking flats
Originally: $64.99
Paid: $4.54

These were tagged $19.99, but rang up for much less. Woohoo!

Rock & Republic gold heels
Originally: $69.99
Paid: $5.60

I feel like this trip was successful in adding some much-needed flats to my wardrobe, which is admittedly pretty slim compared to how many heels I have, but priced at under six bucks, I really couldn't pass these up. So snazzy!

Rock & Republic studded boots
Originally: $109.99
Paid: $13.09

Yes! I'd been hoping these would last long enough to reach clearance, and they were the last pair left in the store. I love when that happens.

Eddie Bauer "Madison" boots
Originally: $109.99
Paid: $15.39

My Mom, my shopping partner-in-crime, discovered this pair put back in the wrong section. See? The bargain hunting runs in the family!

Skechers BOBS "World" flats
Originally: $49.99
Paid: $13.99

These are easily the comfiest shoes I've ever tried on. They're clearly a TOMS knock-off, but thankfully not a soulless one, as I was relieved to read that with each purchase, Skechers also donates a pair of shoes to a child in need.

Apt. 9 quilted riding boots
Originally: $99.99
Paid: $13.99

We've finally arrived at my last pair of shoes from this trip! I had also been keeping an eye on these ever since they arrived in stores, as my old equestrian boots had finally fallen apart last year. I spotted them on an extra cart of clearance in front of the shoe department after I thought I'd already gone through everything, so they were a nice surprise!

Rock & Republic black and gold motorcyle jacket
Originally: $90
Paid: $14.40

I ended getting so much of last fall's Rock & Republic collection on clearance, I now have multiple outfits of black and gold if I ever feel compelled to completely coordinate. Ha!

Candie's pink sequined skirt
Originally: $42
Paid: $2.94

This is gonna be fun to wear. The sequins jingle as you move. If you see a weirdo in a pink skirt twirling through Missouri, it's probably me.

Speechless black drop waist lace dress
Originally: $48
Paid: $6.72

I'm planning on using this dress for a flapper costume this Halloween!

Apt. 9 belt 2-packs
Originally: $26
Paid: $2.08

Chaps leopard belt
Originally: $30
Paid: $2.40

This is actually three purchases and not five. The gold and red belts were sold together, as were the silver and blue, making those belts just over a buck each.

And finally, some fuzzy socks! Starting at $14 for the pack of two, they were just $0.98.

The totals for this Kohl's trip...

Originally: $870.93
Paid: $101.24
Savings: $769.69

If that's not a record, it's really close to being one!

In closing, here's my lil mister checking out my haul. He thinks I got some really good deals!

Saving $114 at JCPenney

Considering the heavy shopping focus this blog has maintained through most of its first year, you'd probably be surprised to know that the first two and a half months of my 2013 were entirely shopping-free. Last week, inspired by a short-lived burst of wonderful spring-like weather, I went on a 3-day bargain-hunting bonanza, finding goodies everywhere I turned and breaking my own savings records repeatedly. The highlight of my clearance chase: walking out of JCPenney with a receipt that totaled $0.00. That was a first!

It's a shame the store's short-lived move away from sales was widely misinterpreted, because you can find extremely reasonable prices store-wide, even before things hit clearance. For example, the boots several photos down were originally priced at $35, and similar stores would without a doubt set that number two or three times higher than that. For last week's batch of goodies, I decided to break down my savings into a post per store, and am starting with my JCP finds. A pattern of crushed velvet emerged, plus I finally found the Alexander McQueen-esque knuckle clutch I've spent years searching for...

I first found out about these Decree crushed velvet jackets when Miss Nickichicki pinned one she had bought onto her Pinterest. Available in both red and black, there was one in each color left in my size, tagged for $2 each!

These boots are from the day I ended up with a $0.00 receipt. I got a coupon in the mail for $10 off of anything, and found these Arizona blue crushed velvet Dr. Martens-esque boots in clearance for exactly $10. It doesn't get much better than free!

And I finally found a knuckle clutch! This one, from Call It Spring, is holographic and the "rings" are of a skull, owl, bow and clear stone. It was still $30, which is high for me, but I had another coupon for $10 off, plus got an additional 10% off on top of that because one of the sets on the bow is missing. At $17, it ended up being my splurge of the week.
